UK businesses prepare to supply world's biggest wind farm

Potential suppliers for a new offshore windfarm that will be the largest in the world, Hornsea Project One, gathered in Grimsby [on 30 November] to learn more about opportunities to be involved.
DONG Energy, who will construct the 174-turbine windfarm 120km off the Yorkshire Coast, organised the event to introduce new suppliers both to the project, and also to larger (Tier One) suppliers they are already working with.

Duncan Clark, Hornsea Project One Programme Director said: "This project is huge, it's the biggest windfarm ever to be built, so as it progresses we want to ensure there are as many opportunities for UK businesses to benefit as possible.

"It's great to see so many contractors in the UK building up their capabilities to provide for the growing offshore wind industry, so we organised this event to give potential suppliers an idea of what's available, and the standards we expect.

"Today's event allowed us to speak directly with companies who want to be involved and also introduce them to some of our Tier One suppliers who we've partnered with before. There was lots of interest and I saw many business cards being swapped so I think overall it's been a success."
